RS Components and Schneider Electric unveil an interactive motor control configurator – EEJournal

LONDON, UK, January 11, 2022 – RS Components (RS), a trademark of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), a global omnichannel provider of product and service solutions, has introduced a digital motor control configurator interactive, designed in partnership with industrial automation and energy management supplier Schneider Electric.

The Ask the Expert Digital Motor Control Configurator is an intuitive, graphics-based product selection tool that helps automation engineers configure motor control systems quickly and easily. A talking avatar called Stan walks engineers through a simple, step-by-step process of entering required parameters, such as supply voltage, motor power, and contactor coil voltage. Ask the Expert then presents the corresponding product options that allow engineers to make a complete selection of the system, including the relevant frequency converters, contactors and motor starters.

The Ask the Expert Motor Control Configurator is the result of an ongoing digital partnership between RS and Schneider, where the two companies collaborate on inventive digital tools to streamline the sometimes difficult process of precise product selection.

“Digital innovation is at the heart of our product strategy,” said Anthony Locke, director of global eCommerce accounts at Schneider Electric. “We’re always looking for new ways to make product selection easier, faster and more accurate for our customers. Co-innovation with partners like RS allows us to develop digital tools that help engineers find what they’re looking for quickly and easily.

Kristian Olsson, Global Vice President of Automation and Control, RS Components, said: “The development of Ask the Expert demonstrates the potential of digital interactive tools to simplify product selection. It’s another step on our way to transform the lives of industrial engineers through digital experiences. We look forward to strengthening our ongoing digital collaboration with Schneider Electric to encompass a wider range of products and solutions in the field of automation and control.
