Toshiba: TXZ+ Family Advanced Class, Arm Cortex-M4 MCUs for Motor Control (Graphic: Business Wire)

These products use an Arm Cortex-M4 core with FPU, operating at up to 160 MHz, and integrating an A-PMD (advance-programmable motor driver) motor driver circuit, a 32-bit A-ENC (encoder advanced) and an A-VE+ vector engine (advanced vector engine plus). These devices offer suitable solutions for AC motors, brushless DC motors and various inverter drives with up to three high-speed, high-resolution 12-bit analog-to-digital converter units.

The M4K group devices have built-in UART, SPI and I2C as general communication interfaces, and the M4M group additionally has a CAN communication interface. Both groups have self-diagnostic functions for ROM, RAM, ADC and clock, which help customer achieve IEC60730 Class B functional safety certification. Both groups achieve low current consumption and high functionality while maintaining good compatibility with the M4K(2) group of the existing TXZTM family.

Documentation, sample software with real-world examples, evaluation boards, and driver software that controls the interfaces for each device are provided with the parts shipment. A development environment is also provided to meet various needs in cooperation with global Arm ecosystem partners.

Main features of new products

  • High performance Arm Cortex-M4 core with FPU, max 160 MHz

  • Motor and drive control functions and communication interfaces

  • Self-diagnostic functions for functional safety IEC60730 class B
